Whitney AbstraKt is a North Carolina-born, Atlanta-based DJ who spent many of her formative years in the DMV area. She stands out due to her focus on building a platform focused on giving back and bringing awareness to relevant social issues as opposed to becoming famous. She embraced her musicality early on, spending childhood years playing the drums and guitar for her church.
Whitney started DJing in 2006 at pep rallies and house parties, and she's been refining her high energy style and eclectic taste since then. Whitney prides herself on being able to play anywhere, in front of any crowd, and her history as a DJ supports that.
Whitney has an organic ear for music that's served her well throughout her career. She was part of A3C's first ever female DJ showcase in 2015 and as a curator of their inaugural art division. In the early stages of her career, Whitney served as live DJ for international talent Kali Uchis and has performed with Locke Kaushal at DC's two landmark hip-hop festivals, Broccoli City and Trillectro. Whitney also performed with Princess Nokia for her Urban Outfitters collaboration event and took first place in the Inaugural Aqua Girl DJ Battle in 2017. She also launched her flagship party “WYD?” in the summer of 2017 and continues to break boundaries in Atlanta nightlife with the launch of “UNTITLED,” a party for the unapologetically black & queer. In 2018, Whitney was able to bless stages at Dames & Dregs, One Music Fest and Afropunk to round off the year.
As she continues to progress as a DJ and businesswoman, Whitney seeks to push unique talents through work as a creative consultant and event producer. Whitney is also laying the groundwork to create a program centered around educating young women in the tech industry. Every facet of Whitney's involvement in music indicates that she is a passion-driven, focused creative.
